What alternative approaches have any of you found effective with fibromyalgia. What about accupuncture? I haven't tried it but some say it is good?

there are sooo many different alternative / homeopathic approaches to Fibro it would be very difficult to answer your question without writting a book. if you could be a little more specific about what symptoms you are having that you are interested in treating with alternative approaches.

Hi,
I apologize but somehow missed your message for a while. I have a wonderful DVD called "Good bye Bathrobe, Hello World" on alternative treatments including fibro chiropractors, fibro massage therapy, diet and nutrition changes, and I will be adding therapeutic touch in January but the information on this DVD is so valuable because you actually get to hear the speakers and see the demonstrations on the correct ways for alternatives to be done on fibromaylgia patients. I highly recommend my FIBROGA exercise. It is gentle stretching and then streching and strength building always ending in the mind/body connection of body scanning relaxation. I have had such visible, rewarding results with this exercise. The luxury is that you work to your ability, to the pull, no further, never into pain but what happens over time, is you stretch out all of those "knots" as we call them and get pain relief as well as learn how to relax your nerves and muscles. IT IS GREAT!!!

I spoke with a Dr. in Erie who is completing "medical acupuncture" for fibromyalgia and he states that he is getting good results. His name is Dr. Park. I just thought persons should know. I am a research of alternatives and found that therapeutic touch was helpful for pain and anxiety related pain from pretest to postest (after therapy). I also have given craniosacral therapy with good results but have not studied the effects of this therapy yet.

I've also had great success with Acupuncture and with craniosacrial therapy. And of course Dr Teitelbaum's books are full of info about alternative therapies of all kinds.

Through my treatment at the Fibro & Fatigue center in Marietta, I am finding Glutathione to be miraculous for me in helping my energy levels, whether via IV or shot. And D-Ribose (see Dr T's website or Karen may have the info on here) is also excellent for energy.

Hot packs (but stay away from electric blankets!) are AMAZING and are also very helpful.

Warm water therapies are very soothing and can help get you moving again. Just watch out for cold dressing rooms! Make sure you put on a warm robe as soon as you're out of the pool.

Great website! Good to be here with others in the same struggle.
